The Dartmoor Classic organisers are excited to announce a very special prize for this year's annual draw in aid of Dartmoor Search and Rescue (Ashburton)

Madison are supplying an Shimano Ultegra group set with wheels as well as a Pro finishing kit.  Those components will be built onto a handmade Aske frame, which will be designed and built specifically for the winner.  Simon Aske, the proprietor of Colin Lewis Cycles will liaise with the winner to capture their measurements, riding style and preferred design in order to build a very special 'one off' bike for them.

Simon is perhaps most famous for his involvement in the production of the award winning carbon monocoque Hotta bikes which achieved notable success under Chris Boardman, Viatcheslav Ekimov, Lance Armstrong, and Richard Prebble.

Hotta were also approached by Graeme Obree to build three bicycles for the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. You can read all about this in his book "The Flying Scotsman".

In 2013 Simon designed and produced the first ASKE handmade bicycle using Reynolds 853 tubing. The idea was to produce a bike with clearance for 30mm tyres but still utilising a normal drop brake calliper. This has resulted in him producing a bike capable of taking on the roads of 'Paris Roubaix - L'Eroica' whilst still lively enough to sprint for that 30 mph sign!

Each bike is made to measure and designed for the end usage. Because of the simplicity of design this has resulted in a frame weight of 1.6 kg which is probably the lowest weight achievable for steel.

More recently Simon has moved on to develop a new frame designs for cyclo-cross, gravel biking, road and time trials.

This is an opportunity to win a very exclusive 'one of a kind' custom bike.  Tickets will be on sale within the event village over the course of the weekend.  Proceeds go to Dartmoor Seack and Rescue (Ashburton) who do a fabulous job each year helping us with emergency cover for the event and running the Princetown Feed Station.
