Piccolo Route

The Piccolo route more suitably named as "Pixies Revenge"  is the shortest and easiest route of the Dartmoor Classic Sportive. Not to be taken lightly, it has a habit of getting it's revenge.

Covering 46 miles on to Dartmoor and back it's not easy but it is intended as a less competitive and less daunting challenge than the other routes. Piccolo entry numbers are limited to a maximum of 500.

The route starts with a 2.3 mile guided section from Newton Abbot racecourse to Clay Pits Way. You will complete this section in small groups, each with a ride-guide.

On reaching Clay pits Way you will see our 'Timing Towers', from here you can ride at your own pace, following the signed and marshalled course.

Piccolo Route Feed Station

The Piccolo route has its main Feed Station at Moretonhampstead, which you will reach after cycling the first 26 miles. You will have earned your place at the feed station after competing in the Closed Road Hill Climb segment at 19 miles. Here the Piccolo Route merges with the Medio & Grande routes to return back to the Clay Pits Way Timing Towers.

Return to Event HQ

From the Timing Towers it's just another 2.6 miles back to Newton Abbot racecourse where you will receive your well earned finisher's medal.

Pixies Revenge Medal Times.

The Piccolo route is officially timed for safety purposes and for 2027 the route will have Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. Although the Classic is not a race, some riders like to compare their times to previous attempts and get rewarded with a medal if they've made the allocated times (table below)

Your time taken on the Hill Climb competition segment will be entered against all other riders by age and gender categories for King and Queen of the mountain prizes.
