Grande Route

At over 100 miles (107miles), the Grande route is the longest and toughest route option for the Dartmoor Classic Sportive.

ULTIMATE CHALLENGE - That’s exactly what it is – 107 miles on one of the toughest routes in the SouthWest. It's hard, and will probably be one of the hardest day rides you will complete.

Ride across some of the most stunning parts of Dartmoor taking in iconic climbs including Haytor. After 80 miles there's extra challenge, our Closed Road Hill Climb competition segment. Test your remaining climbing strength against your fellow Grande participants to see who's really made of Granite. There are prizes to be won for the fastest male & female in each age category.

Grande Route Feed Stations

Our feed station is famous for it huge selection of high quality food, sweet and savoury, along with drinks including energy drinks, coke plus Tea and Coffee. The central feed station is located in Princetown. You pass through the central feed station twice, once at 30 miles and again at 70 miles.

There is also a drink stop at Lydford, 47 miles into the route.

Return to Event Village

Toward the end of the course there are Timing Towers where your official ride time will stop. Once you have passed the towers you can take your time and warm down as you follow the remaining 2.6 miles of the route back to the Event Village. Here you can park your bike, get changed, collect your well earned medal and grab some recovery food and drink.

Grande Route Medal Times

The Grande route includes Gold, Silver & Bronze medal standards for both age and gender categories.

To participate and enjoy the Grande route you must be able to maintain an average pace of at least 12 miles per hour (including any stop time).
For safety reasons there is a cut-off point at Rundlestone (31 miles into the route). If you don't reach this point before 11:00 am you will be diverted onto the shorter Medio route.

All finishers receive a medal.
