Regarded as one of the UK’s toughest cycle sportives, it features gradients up to 25% on Dartmoor classic climbs like Holne Chase and Haytor. If you are from a flat region the hills will be a challenge. The Dragon Ride has longer gradual climbs and the Dartmoor Classic is often considered harder as the climbs are steeper and there are a lot of them throughout the route. "The hills just keep on coming"
The Dartmoor Classic is not a race but a fully supported cycle challenge. Riders can ride at their own pace but for safety reasons there are cut off times on the longer routes. Riders can change down their route part way through the ride if they are not making progress quick enough to get back to the finish before it closes.
For more competitive riders, all Dartmoor Classic routes include a closed road hill climb segment, your time on the climb is recorded and fastest riders can win prizes.
Yes, electric bikes are welcome on all routes, but Tri Bars and Time Trial bikes are strictly prohibited.
Yes, parking is Free at the event village for all competitors and their supporters.
IF you are dropping off a rider at the Event Village in the morning, do not drive in to the village but drop off just outside. No cars are allowed back out of the village for safety reasons until 9am when all the riders have started.
