Established in 2007, the Dartmoor Classic is widely recognised as the most prestigious open-road sportive in the UK, with all 4,000 spaces selling out and attracting people from around the world. With three routes on offer to participants, ranging from 35 miles to 107 miles, the cycling challenge offers something for cyclists of all abilities. Arbuthnot Latham have a number of spaces at the event and we will be inviting a selection of employees and clients to take part in the race.

Arbuthnot Latham are excited to partner with the Dartmoor Classic as they take a focus on supporting the local community and creating long term relationships to help their clients achieve their goals whether it be in life, business or for their families. Over the next nine months we will be helping our participants by providing training, nutritional and cycling knowledge from experts.

The event will also look to raise funds for a number of charities. The main charity for the year is CHICKS Children’s Charity, and money will also be raised for Dartmoor Search & Rescue and Donate for Dartmoor.

Rob Salisbury, Director of Commercial Banking in our South West office and keen cyclist commented, ‘I am delighted to support what I view as the country’s premier cycle sportive. As a keen local MAMIL (Middle Aged man in Lycra) I know how tough the Dartmoor Terrain is and having tackled The Classic before I know how incredibly challenging the event can be. Dartmoor is a real wilderness in the heart of the South West and the weather conditions can play a huge part in your finishing time. The Grande route is really tough even for the enthusiast/experienced cyclist and with the Medio and Piccolo additional route options, the organisers, Mid Devon Cycling Club, do cater for all -  you don’t have to be a MAMIL to do it! The event capacity is about 4,000 and the popularity of the event is demonstrated by how quickly it sells out every year. I am excited about the fitness journey that I will undertake and training will start soon for the event that takes place on 1st July next year.  Cycling is one of the UK’s fastest growing sports and the sponsorship of Arbuthnot Latham with The Dartmoor Classic is a great fit.’
