3 Year deal with Specialized ends.

After a 3 year partnership with the Dartmoor Classic sportive, bike brand Specialized have announced they will not be renewing their contract, with the organising Mid-Devon Cycling Club, for next year’s event. “Specialized have been incredibly supportive of our flagship promotion and their invaluable contributions have allowed the club to take the event to a much higher level than would have been possible without their involvement.” said Ron Keegan the event’s promoter. “We are really appreciative of all that the company have brought to the event and fully understand the need for them to now pursue alternative and emerging marketing opportunities.” he added.

On behalf of the U.K. arm of the global company, Emily Bennett, their event manager said “We have been truly delighted to have partnered the MDCC and helped their efforts to build this classic event into the best sportive experience in the country. It has been a really rewarding experience for Specialized and we shall all miss our annual visit to Devon and the pleasure of working with such a brilliant and enthusiastic team. We wish them well and will be watching the event’s future development with great interest.”

On a visit to the recent Cycle Show, at Birmingham’s NEC, Guy Langworthy, the dynamic new leader of the Dartmoor Classic’s planning team, said “We are now about to write the next chapter of the event’s history. The Specialized era allowed the Mid-Devon to set the quality mark for U.K. sportives; a standard on which we will now continue to build. We are already in discussion with a number of potential new partners and I am confident that, whatever the outcome of our negotiations, ‘The Classic’ can reach even greater heights than have already been achieved.”
