Important information about changes to the finish approach of the 2017 Dartmoor Classic....

The Dartmoor Classic Organisers, in consultation with Teignbridge Council's Safety Advisory Group, have changed the finish process for this years Sportive.

At the start riders will set off in waves of 200 at 10 minute intervals. Each group will be escorted out through Newton Abbot to Clay Pits Way, Kingsteignton. This initial 1.9 miles of the route is neutralized and does NOT count towards the official ride time used to calculte the medal standards. The official timing start point will be clearly marked by two large 'Twin Towers' at the start of Claypits Way.

All medal times are being reduced by 8 minutes to account for the shorter distance being timed.

At the end of the Sportive, all routes return along Clay Pits Way. This year, the official timing for the medal standards will end as the rider passes back between the 'Twin Towers'. The remaining 2.5 miles of the routes, through the built up areas of Kingsteignton & Newton Abbot are now neutralized, taking the pressure of of the participants as they take a more leisuerly spin back to the finish, knowing the hard work has been done and the medal time has been secured!

Once back at Newton Abbot Racecourse, riders will be able to rack their bikes and go into the Event HQ Hall to receive their medal. From here participants will pass through to the Event Village to collect their T-Shirt & Gift Bag and have their photo taken on the Finish Podium.

At the Event Village there are a number of stalls and exhibitors. There will be a Crazy Bike Circus for the children to play on and a huge outdoor TV showing live coverage of the Tour de France and other entertainment. There will also be plenty of food, drink, and music for all to enjoy.
